Abstract :
A single server processing two classes of jobs with exhaustive cycling discipline and nonnegligible setup time is examined. It models a machine in a manufacturing environment. The Markovian property of the node allows for solution of performance measures such as average cycle time, average output per cycle, average queue length and utilization. Numerical results show the effects of setup time and service time to the above performance measures. An approximation method based upon mean values analysis is developed, and results are compared to those obtained from the Markovian analysis.
