Abstract
The problem under consideration is how to design a compensator to stabilize a given plant, and optimaly reject all persistent bounded disturbances. A complete solution of the SISO discrete-time problem is provided. The solution consists of two parts, the calculation of the minimum norm, which is done by solving a linear programming problem, and the construction of the optimal solution (when it exists), which is done by solving a set of linear equations.
