Abstract
A chemical reactor modelled by two nonlinear ordinary differential equations with a manipulable input is controlled by means of a nonlinear control law. A region where the reactor can be globally controlled is delimited. It is found that the model can be transformed to a linear one. A region where the transformation is global is established. The equivalent, linear system is controlled with a linear technique. The actual nonlinear controller is obtained when the equivalent feedback law is written in terms of the original coordinates. The nonlinear controller allows for regulation of stable stationary points and stabilization of unstable ones.
