Abstract
It is shown that the "standard" H∞ control optimization problem of Francis and Doyle may be reduced to a homotopy problem defined by a set of matrix polynomial equations. The approach avoids the pole cancellation problem inherent in the conventional reduction to Nehari form. The homotopy may be solved numerically by transformation to a differential equation. An example illustrates the method.
