Abstract :
In this paper, the relation of matrix Q in the cost function to distances between the closed-loop and open-loop poles of a single input controllable system is studied. A LQ optimal region for pole assignment and its change with the dominant poles of the optimal closed-loop system are given. Based on this, a method of optimal pole assignment which can guarantee the performance of the transient response is presented.
