Abstract
In this paper, we present a computationally simple procedure to obtain a minimal realization from a given transfer function matrix. The simplicity of the presented method is a consequence of taking the advantage that many models of flight control systems have distinct and/or pairs of complex-valued eigenvalues. Two illustrative flight control examples (X-29 and Airbus A300) are provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed minimal realization method.
