Abstract
This paper will investigate the possibilities of decentralized modal (eigenvalue) control of multimachine power systems. An adaptive power system stabilizer will be used for local electro-mechanical eigenvalue estimation and assignment. The coordination of the adaptive controllers will be realized through the continuation method of decentralized pole placement in a multimachine environment. A three machine system example will illustrate the developed concepts.
