  • Abstract
This paper concerns the stabilization of interconnected power systems by means of a decentralized variable structure controller. A near-optimal decentralized variable structure control design is introduced and applied to frequency regulation for a two-area power network in response to tie line disturbance. A numerical example is given to illustrate the approach. The example uses a recently published model for a two-area power network which is particularly suitable for decentralized control.
