Developing Instrumentation Laboratory with Real Time Control Component

Today modern mechanical engineer must function in an increasingly electronic and computer-driven world. Many current and emerging areas of technology depend on a close fusion of mechanical and electrical systems under control of a computer. To address this, the Mechanical Engineering Department of Southern Unversity, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has planned a micro-computer based Instrumentation Laboratory to enhance its traditional laboratory courses. This paper describes the main features of this laboratory.
