Abstract :
We obtain the exact expression for the infinity norm of a discrete time prototype second order system as a function of the poles\´ location. We then offer both time and frequency domain insights into how to choose discrete time closed loop poles for good transient behaviour. Design issues in the use of "fast" sampling for the control of continuous time processes are briefly discussed.
