Abstract
This paper deals with the state-of-the-art of the areas windturbines and power supply for remote telecommunications systems. The increasing reliability demands within the telecommunications industri necessitates improvement of all units in the system including the windturbine. To ensure the right development some calculation models for systemreliability must be employed. To ensure an optimal combination of windpower and back up power (hybrid configuration) an easy and quick method for determination of local windpower potential is needed. Some different windspeed distributions and their use are shown, and the influences at the local windenergy potential, from shelter, roughness of the surface, and topographical effects are discussed.
