            Abstract :
The Defense Switched Network (DSN) has been defined to include all Department of Defense telecommunications across all connectivity means. This is quite different than the current Automatic Voice Network (AUTOVON) which is a well defined private line network. This paper discusses several of the significant operational and control concepts as well as the approach for developing the administration, operation and management structure for the DSN.
