  • Abstract
Cellular telecommunications technology is currently undergoing deployment in the top 90 markets in the United States, and in a number of foreign countries. AT&T developed the cellular radio concept, nurtured it through years of government regulatory delay and other roadblocks, and has played a major role in the implementation of this technology in a significant share of the markets in this country. This paper will discuss some of the more recent cellular concepts and engineering tools developed by AT&T, as well as some of the practical problems being encountered.
