Special Requirements to Batteries Applied in Photovoltaic and Wind Power Systems for Telecommunications

The energy requirements of the loads connected to power supply systems drawing the energy from permanent sources, such as sun or wind, may differ strongly. By defining a rated power of the supply system to which the average power demand of loads can be matched, requirements to the supply system and to its components can be specified. respective results are given for the storage battery. A simple method for sizing the solar generator and the battery is presented. The use of additional power supplies in order to cut down the costs of the systems is discussed. Finally useful electronic components are briefly described. An outlook to the future is given.
