Abstract
This paper deals with a power plant designed to provide a no-break 48 or 60 V nominal DC voltage to traditional and technically advanced telecommunication equipment to supply power ratings of up to 300 A. The power plant uses the basic circuit which was chosen by SIP, Italian Telephone Company, for medium and large power plants (1) and was designed to meet the requirements deriving from the decentralization of supplied loads optimizing the overall efficiency of the power supply system. A description of the power plant equipment will be given for rectifiers, buck-boost converters, etc. and for the use of 20kHz PWM power transistor switchers to control the DC output. System engineering will also be described, as well as the expandibility of the plant using standard modules of different power rating.
