Abstract :
Parallel computational techniques have not impacted signal processing as dramatically as might have been expected. In this paper we review the Ware-Buzbee model of concurrent computation and an interesting result of Wilkes wherein he achieves a processing speedup greater than the number of applied processors. We augment the Ware-Buzbee model to accommodate the probabilistic aspects of this speedup and introduce the notion of probabilistic signal processing.
