Abstract :
The design analysis approach presented in this paper is based on simulating the operation of real time systems involving computer-based hardware resources and software modules operating under the specified workloads. The analysis provides measures of various performance statstics including hardware and software utilization, loadding, and timing -- all without requiring the user to write any modeling code in a High Order Language (HOL) such as FORTRAN or SIMSCRIPT. An integral part of the design analysis is the verification of the simulation results which are independently checked using analytical modeling. The approach was applied to the design evaluation of the Report Back Processor (RBP) and the Timing Acquisition Processor (TAP), which are integral parts of the Military Strategic-Tactical and Relay (MILSTAR) Control Processor Subsystem.
