Abstract :
By using the direct (or "time-domain") approach to the analysis of the single-dwell serial-search acquisition system, simple formulae for the probability density function and the mean of the acquisition time are derived, assuming the arbitrary search strategy and arbitrary apriori distribution. The expression for the mean acquisition time is then used to derive the general closed - form relations for all Z-search strategies, and to obtain numericall results for various "expanding-window" search strategies.
