Technological aspects of the triple play service on fixed access networks

Most of fixed network operators have invested much effort on making right decision on future access network infrastructure for triple play services. This paper addresses, based on the public sources and experience of bench marking tests on the nine real GPON/GEPON products, crucial factors that should be taken into account for technology selection from operator´s point of view. We treat not only technological specifications, but also other hidden and market-specific aspects for a practical comparison among GPON, GEPON, and WDM-PON.
