Abstract
In this paper, we propose an automatic shot change detection algorithm using weighting variance and histogram variation. The proposed method consists of the following elements: weighting variance, adaptive threshold and automatic weighting. We obtained better the detection rate than conventional methods based on variance value about 8% and previous approach based on an adaptive threshold maximally about 5.7% in the experiment with the same test sequences. The proposed algorithm will be helpful in various applications which require an automatic shot change detection.
