Abstract :
In this conference paper, we discuss the spectral response of new rectangular asymmetric resonators and compare it to the characteristics of conventional circular structures. The rectangular design offers a miniaturization of more than 20% and features an improved transmission roll-off. Moreover, tips at the end of the resonator arms confine the electric field into a small area. Especially frequency selective surfaces or thin-film sensors, which rely on small outline resonators with sharp spectral responses, could benefit from these novel structures.
