Abstract :
Methods for designing vehicle-mounted scanning lens antennas are presented. Spectral domain analysis approach is used for spherical and hemispherical structures with ability to model different kinds of feeds. In case of horn antennas, the feed can be optimized simultaneously with the lens using the equivalent surface current model. Spheroidal antennas are analyzed by high-frequency techniques (namely combination of geometrical and physical optics) and general electromagnetic solver, and some guidelines regarding the design of such, reduced height, antennas are given.
