Abstract
A dielectric director has been introduced to enhance near-field radiation properties of ultra-wideband antennas. This paper presents a parametric study of selected parameters that define the director used to improve the radiation behavior of a balanced antipodal Vivaldi antenna. The near-field radiation distortion and intensity are of interest. The director permittivity is found to be the key parameter that controls the near-field radiation behavior.
