Abstract :
This paper gives a brief overview of the current state of RF switches available for use in antenna systems. It includes switches have been used in both classical antenna systems and more recent reconfigurable implementations. In particular it explores conventional mechanical switches, PIN diodes, and FET switches, and MEMS switches. The paper makes recommendations of candidates for use in reconfigurable antenna designs.
