Abstract :
Based on the analysis of evaluation theory of English textbook, in view of the large number of checklist items and the difficulty in quantitative analysis of evaluation criteria, fuzzy set theory is introduced into English textbook evaluation in this paper. The proposed fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) uses fuzzy pair wise comparison judgments rather than exact numerical values of the comparison ratios. The fuzzy mathematic method is applied to eliminate subjective elements in weighting the evaluation criteria based on expertspsila knowledge and subjective judgments of textbook users. A detailed numerical example, illustrating the application of the approach to college English textbook evaluation is given.
