Abstract :
A method is presented for calculating the diameter of a single conductor with the same capacitance to earth as a bundle of many conductors. The method is designed to asymptotically approach existing formulae when the separation between conductors is large, and to deliver a higher accuracy as the conductors become close together. The accuracy of both existing formulae and new method are evaluated against a full numerical solution.
