Abstract :
Japan Agency for Marine-earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) launched an ocean-going autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) "URASHIMA" which has been studied and developed the key technologies since 2000. The navigation and research abilities were verified by the past sea test. AUV will be put to practical use in 2009. Therefore, it is important to advance the practical operability of AUV. In this paper, problems in a present operation in sea tests are described and improvements of the operability of AUV for practical use are proposed.
