Abstract :
This paper presents the effect of increase in clock frequency and pulsed electromagnetic noise on timing jitter of an ECL circuit comprising of D-Flip flops and mono-shots. The radiated noise is generated by pulsed discharge of capacitor bank through flash lamps in a high power Table top Tera watt laser chain. We conducted the study on a pulse selector and trigger circuit designed to select a single laser pulse from a laser oscillator operating at 100 MHz. The pulse selection is carried out in synchronization with an external laser amplifier operating in single shot mode. The circuit consists of a delay flip flop to synchronize the 100 MHz clock from the repetitive laser and the external laser operating in single shot mode. It also consists of ECL mono-shots to generate low jitter variable signal delays in the range 40 ns to 1 usec.
