Abstract :
The electromagnetic radiation generated from a typical pulsed power high voltage capillary discharge plasma system carries the frequency characteristics of current and voltages involved. This information can be utilized to detect any electrical fault during operation of the system. In this paper we present one such system which utilizes two biconical antennas, a Rogowski coil and a copper sulphate high voltage divider resistance for detection of faults. The performance was analyzed under different faults/conditions like normal discharge, no discharge, breakdown at capillary entrance flange and breakdown before water capacitor. The analysis of frequency spectrum under various faults/conditions is presented.
