Abstract
During the past five years, a major company involved in chemical/pharmaceutical activities has built an integrated production site for polycarbonates, coatings and isocyanates in Caojing near Shanghai. A further major expansion is currently in the execution phase. The design, consultation and engineering of the electrical power transmission and distribution system from the 220 kV AC incoming feeders down to the 24 V DC power supply system were carried out by company engineers. The experience gained made a significant contribution to the successful outcome of the project. All production operations started up successfully and on schedule. This presentation explains how to construct a "state of the art" chemical production plant. (1) to comply with legal and local requirements regarding the electrical power supply (2) to assure safety first for workers and environmental protection (3) to meet production reliability requirements (4) to coordinate engineering work in several sub- projects and countries (5) to combine economic demands with technical requirements This presentation takes you through the different stages of the projects. It presents some important engineered solutions as examples, and shows you the decisions that were made on the basis of requirements and technical data.
