Abstract
In this paper, a buffer management mechanism with hierarchically dynamic thresholds is proposed. This mechanism can not only provide fair buffer allocation hierarchically, but also improve the buffer utilization by using the reserved buffer from dynamic threshold. The parameters of dynamic thresholds for each hierarchy, the parameters for low threshold and the buffer sizes are all decided for all parts constituting the switch fabric through system simulation.
