Abstract :
Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) suffer from random variations in channel condition. This leads to poor performance in multi-hop wireless mesh networks specially with a conventional routing. To cope with instability of wireless links, new routing metrics must be explored. In this paper we propose a new end-to-end Bit Error Rate (BER) aware metric for multi-hop wireless routing and take hop number into account. We show that using this metric in AODV protocol improves the performance of routing in terms of end-to-end delay and throughput in comparison to minimum-hop count metric.
