  • Abstract
    Multiform ANP (Access Network Protocols) and fast-changing communication market require high-performance yet flexible processing solutions. The ANPCC (Custom RISC Core for Access Network Protocols) project in this paper aims to develop a survey for ANP with high-flexibility and programmability. We present the design methodology, giving emphasis to architecture of the RISC-based core and instruction set extension with application-specific instructions. The ANPCC is estimated to be able to handle different access network protocols, such as SONET/SDH, E1/T1, and Ethernet .etc.
