Performance evaluation of simplified decoder of OSTBC over fast fading environments

The Orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBC) [1] have a very simple ML decoding that makes the detection of each symbol independent. This simplified decoding relies on the channel being static, which is not possible in many wireless systems. Trying to use the simplified ML decoder results in interference. In [2] a simple method of cancelling this interference is presented for two transmit and one receive antenna. This paper will extend this method to multiple receive antennas and examine its performance more throughly. Also, the tradeoff between interference cancellation and noise suppression will be examined. The result is a group of lowcomplexity decoders analyzed and simulated over timevarying channels.
