Abstract :
IPTV is one of the most important services and components of NGN. To ensure good QoS of IPTV in various kinds of networks, and to minimize developing cost, an efficient coding technology must be adopted. This paper related the principle of IPTV with the characteristics and principle of H.264, suggested that H.264 would be an advisable coding technology for IPTV.
