Abstract
Multimodulus algorithms for blind equalization are useful to diminish the undesirable ISI and recover/correct the phase offset simultaneously without needing any rotator at the end of the equalizer. In this paper, a new multimodulus algorithm, to equalize dense QAM constellations, is presented. This new blind equalizer outperforms blind equalizers based on existing Multimodulus Algorithm (MMA) and Square Contour Algorithm (SCA) in terms of convergence speed and constellation eye opening with significantly reduced complexity than that of previously proposed Adaptively Varying Modulus Algorithm (AVMA). The convergence characteristics of the proposed blind equalization algorithm demonstrated by the simulation results for 64 and 256-QAM signal constellation substantiate the efficacy of this new blind equalizer.
