Abstract :
UTRAN Long Term Evolution is currently under standardization within 3GPP with the aim of providing a spectral efficiency 2 to 4 times higher than its predecessor HSUPA/HSDPA. We propose a fair channel aware search tree based packet scheduling algorithm which schedules based on the metric values designed by proportional allocation scheme. Fairness is provided by the algorithm by choosing the best metric in the search tree. From our simulation we have proved 30-40% power spectral density improvement and 5 dbm transmission power improvement for users near the cell boundary. The performance is also shown in terms of scheduled SINR, PRBs (physical resource block) distribution and cell throughput.
