Abstract :
With the rapid development of graphic process unit, the image-based collision detection method will be thrived. In this paper, an improved image-based collision detection algorithm named contour projection algorithm was proposed. The contour region of intersectant polyhedrons was obtained by projection. Using the depth buffer and complete buffer, the rapid elimination of the non-collision polyhedrons was realized. This method has been used in the virtual campus system, the practical use showed that the method is simple and efficiency.
