Abstract :
Ytterbium-doped phosphosilicate fibers with phosphate-like characteristics, lifetime and doping-levels are demonstrated, offering significantly increased peak powers from shorter fiber amplifiers. Efficient fibers with up to 4700 dB/m peak absorption at 976 nm and low photo-darkening are demonstrated.
