Abstract :
Loading an Equilateral Triangular Microstrip Antenna (ETMSA) with an Equilateral Triangular slot can significantly reduce the antenna size at a given operating frequency up to 38% and dual-frequency operation can be obtained. Variation of the resonance frequencies of the triangular microstrip patch with different slot dimensions will be discussed. By vertically splitting the ETMSA into two equal parts, another 50% reduction in size can easily be obtained without affecting the resonance frequency to achieve a total size reduction up to about 70% operating in a single band. Theoretical results of such a triangular microstrip antenna are presented.
