Abstract
For the period of the International Polar Year (IPY), IPS collected space weather data from the Antarctic region. The activity took place within the umbrella project ICESTAR (Inter-hemispheric Conjugacy Effects in Solar-Terrestrial and Aeronomy Research) and has the title "IASWR - International Antarctic Space Weather Reports". The routine data collected flowed into the Australian Space Forecast Centre (ASFC) in near real time. These observations were intended to provide a basis for developing space weather reports for Antarctica. In addition, oblique ionograms were collected between Antarctica and sites in Australia and New Zealand. This paper summarises the objectives of this IPY HF propagation program and provides some early results.
