Abstract
A robust non-reversing starting scheme for the sensorless switched reluctance motors (SRM) is presented. It is implemented by dividing the phase inductance profile into several symmetric regions with a new robust scheme, and comparing the measured phase currents by voltage pulse injection to estimate the region that the initial rotor position locates. The comparison logic is simple, which ensures the practical operations easy. A theoretical analysis shows that the presented approach is robust to measurement uncertainties. Simulation and experimental results show that it can ensure the non-inversing starting, even at the critical boundary positions.
