Abstract :
The geographic information service (GIS) raises requirements for high performance computation, large-scale spatial database and sharing of other distributed resources in different system. In this paper, we analyze the deficiencies of current application systems and the requirements of GIS. We construct the distributed GIS on grid platform. Considering the flexibility and efficiency, we integrate the mobile agent technology into the system. We propose a new prototype system, the geographic information grid system (GIGS) based on mobile agent. This system can provide flexible services and high performance, and improves the sharing of distributed resources. We introduced the system architecture, the service strategy of GIGS, working process of mobile agent in GIGS.
