Abstract :
The fault detection algorithm in an open loop distribution automation (DA) system that involves distributed generation (DG) interconnections is studied. Different feeder operation scenarios are simulated, and a modified procedure is proposed to reduce the probability of miss identification of feeder fault section. Without incorporating directional relays, deviations of branch currents recorded at adjacent feeder sections are used to augment the fault detection function and enhance the performance of service restoration.
