Abstract :
By manually setting up illumination source or simply employing default light source, VRML system can proceed scene and models´ surface material dark-and-light distributed computing, so as to produce real illumination effect for scene and its embedded models. If necessary to carry out shadow rendering, first should artificially calculate shadow range, then through manually program to proceed shadow rendering. Space scene´s authenticity virtualization is a key technique in constructing virtual environment application. Two kinds of VRML nodes can be used in atmosphere environment simulation. One is Background node, and the other Fog node. VRML´s Fog node´s function is to simulate natural atmosphere effects through the definition of explorer´s visible fading region. Paper mainly introduced practical application of virtual illumination source, light shadow range calculation and program, LINEAR fog, EXPONENTIAL fog and fog color settings.
