A research on motivating and managing volunteers for large-scale sports events in China

Abstract :
Using questionnaires, interviews and other methods, the author did research on the the current state of participation motivation of the volunteers for large-scale sports events in China and did analysis on the factors that motivated volunteers, participating in volunteer service, adhere to service and drop-outs with different motivations, and the status of incentive of volunteers involved in voluntary service for large-scale sports events. According to the results, the author has come up with some motivating and managing countermeasures to be taken to inspire volunteers successfully for large-scale sports events: First, sports volunteers legislation; Second, establish motivational mechanism for sports volunteers; Third, the formate specialized sports volunteers team; Fourth, indirectly use external motivation; Fifth, specify managers´ and volunteers´ responsibilities.
