Abstract :
The results of the 1-mm wavelength orotron optimization at 6 kV voltage operating on the second space harmonic of two row periodic structure (TRPS) are presented. The computer simulation methods of the electron-wave interaction efficiency increase, which were developed for orotron at long-wavelength range, are used. The spherocylinder was used as a focusing mirror. The cylinder longitudinal axis was perpendicular to the electron beam direction. The optimal TRPS length dependence on ohmic losses in an open resonator for maximum orotron efficiency is found. The calculations were carried out on the basis of the results obtained in paper. It was shown that the quality of the surface treatment of TRPS plays an important role. The higher is the surface quality, the shorter is the length of space interaction, where the maximum efficiency is achieved and the higher is its value and the value of output power, which can be hundreds of watts on the second space harmonic.
