Abstract

Over the past years, much research work has been done for better integration of data management and knowledge management. However, in real application, manipulating knowledge along with relational or object data in database system is a difficult thing. In this paper, we introduce a novel, pay-as-you-go mechanism for managing data and domain knowledge. We provide the user with materialized and virtual views that unify data and domain knowledge. In addition to unifying them, we introduce some operators for ontology and give an optimization paradigm. Experiment result shows that our approach is feasible and efficient.
