Abstract :
The designs for a 21kA power supply were based around the pulsed output stages. Controls for most power supplies are varied and based on customer requirements and so they were not required at this design stage. The concept for the power supply is to charge from zero to maximum current within 80??S with a flat top of 400??S and a decay time of 80??S. In order to charge at such a rate; a large amount of stored energy would be needed to inject into a pulsed magnet. The studies show solutions on how to achieve this and also, how to continue the flat top using other switching devices. The mathematical studies were produced using PLECS through MATLAB showing simulation results for the solutions.
