Implementation of prepaid services in Kosovo´s fixed network

PTK (Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo) is incumbent telecommunication operator, still as a public owned company providing fixed and mobile services in Kosovo. Through ldquoModernization of telecommunication infrastructure of PTKrdquo project the complete network structure is digitalized, based on TDM and NGN concept. This project was initiated to replace most of the switching and access infrastructure that was too obsolete. For this project PTK decided to go for the latest switching technology Next Generation Network (NGN). The NGN infrastructure contains IN platform, also. Within IN platform lies the prepaid calling card service, too. The PTK approach, on prepaid calling card service implementation in order to increase penetration and revenues, through this paper is presented.
